Aziza is a middle eastern (belly) dance performer and instructor in the north shore and western suburbs of Chicago. She teaches private and semi-private classes and also teaches workshops.
Aziza has studied belly dance with local instructors and taken workshops with nationally and internationally recognized master instructors. In addition to belly dance, she is a lifelong musician, and plays the tabla/doumbek (middle eastern hand drum) and riq (tambourine). She is also a member and officer of the Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Association, Chicago Chapter. She has earned her certification from Hadia as a Middle Eastern Dance Instructor, completing over 60 hours of training.
Aziza teaches a fun, fitness-based class with an
emphasis on proper posture and safe technique. She also teaches how to
listen to and interpret the music. No experience is necessary for the
beginner class and all ages are welcome. Each class starts with a
warm-up, then technique, then combinations or a choreography based on
the technique, and ends with a cool down. Aziza has taught all ages,
from 8 to 80, and enjoys the challenges each new session brings.
